Travel Places: Balans Soho Society, Clapham Common

Finding a good brunch spot is as important to a 30-something Londoner like finding happy-hour for a 21-year old. As some of your friends move on to create little, lovely families and you become more annoyed with crowds it’s the ultimate solution. Luckily London has no shortage of brunch spots, and Balans Soho Society in Clapham Common is my latest crush.

Why we loved it:

The restaurant has a great outdoor and large indoor area so they are happy to accept a booking for 6 people. I called up and they were also very friendly about giving us a table that has space for a pram for our tiny guest of honour.

The prices are fairly reasonable and the menu has plenty to choose from.

At 10:30 quite a few people were sipping on cocktails, prosecco, and even wine so for those who like to start their weekend with a kick, this is your spot.

The decor is beautiful without making you feel uncomfortable and we found the staff to be exceptionally friendly and patient with our table taking our sweet, sweet time.

What to order:

I suggest sticking with the full breakfast or if you have a sweet tooth don’t hesitate to go for the pancakes or french toast. The eggs benedict and toast with a variety of options was a little bit small for our South African liking.

The rest:

If you don’t manage to make a booking be sure to get there before 11:30 when the tables start to fill up really quickly.

If the weather is nice, remember that you are right opposite Clapham Common park so pack a blanket and a book and go relax in the park to let your food baby settle down.

I hope you love it as much as we did and if you are looking for more London restaurants or things to do take a look here.
