Travel Places: Visit Blues Kitchen, London

Blues Kitchen London Restaurant

It’s been ages since we’ve had a good Friday night out in London. My friend Jana J. suggested Blues Kitchen in Shoreditch, London and I’m pretty sure we could have stayed all night.

What’s the deal?

Food first

Firstly, the food. Hot damn, they know how to serve meat (sorry vegetarian/vegan friends reading this). As a South African that enjoys red meat it’s been hard to find the quality of meat that we are used to. We finally did! The Blues Kitchen slow cooks their meat for 10 hours and it simply falls off the bone #drool. Sharing a meat platter with 2 x types of meat was perfect. We added the most delicious corn bread, and next time I’ll add sweet potato fries.

Music that makes your happy

After dinner, we moved to the live music area where we saw a 10-piece blues band that had us moving like the old days. They don’t just cover any songs, they cover songs by Whitney Houston, Fleetwood Mac and Roxette! Generally, I am not a fan of any cover band, but if it’s a 10 piece blues band I’ve learned that I can love it.

It’s a large, beautiful building with copper finishes, but be sure to book in advance as it gets really busy.

If you just want to join for the live music then there is a £6 entry after 22:00 and a self-serve bar where you can get drinks.

We’ll be back soon, especially for the meat!

PS. Blues Kitchen has two more venues in Brixton and Camden.
