My London Big 5 Statue of Nelson Mandela

Travel Places: My London Big 5 (No. 2 Statue of Nelson Mandela / Parliament Square)

My London Big 5 (no.2)

Cost: £0

Next up on My London Big 5 tour, the Nelson Mandela Statue on Parliament Square. An incredibly special place and a moment to reflect how far the country has come.

Getting to Parliament Square is only a 12min walk from Trafalgar Square walking past great landmarks like 10 Downing Street and a string of iconic red phone booths.

The statue of Nelson Mandela was unveiled in August 2007. The large bronze statue is so detailed and in my humble opinion, it does have a sense of greatness like Nelson Mandela had. More on the statue here.

It is an honour to see this statue in such an important location in London and I would really recommend you make the effort to see this when you are in London. It’s so close to Big Ben, Westminster Abbey and 10 Downing Street so you can’t miss it.

Take a break and spend a couple of minutes sitting amongst the statues of some great leaders.

Check out what I got up to for no. 3 of My London Big 5 here and take a look at the short video of my day:
