Woofs of the World: Affenpinscher

Yes, you might think that this is a pet ewok…but if you speak German you will know that Affenpinscher means “monkey-dog”. So you’ve probably just learned a new word in German, and you’re about to look at cute pictures, and that is why the Affenpinscher is the perfect “Woof of the World”.

Who: The Affenpinscher

Where: It’s a German breed, and one can almost say a German monkey (affe = ape). They have been around since the 17th century and will remind you of the Griffon Bruxellois (Brussels Griffon) and Miniature Schnauzer. That’s because they are the ancestor of these breeds.

Colour: This “monkey-dog” comes in black and some more black.

Age: The average lifespan of the Affenpinscher is 11.4 years.

Size: Small at 2 – 6kg and only 23 – 39 cm in height.

Who would like them: Don’t let the size fool you. This one has a strong punch. They are very active, love to play and with that face they can only be slightly stubborn.
